Recycling

Depending on the battery technology, several industrial processes have been developed for efficient recycling.
Our Group has identified and is in a situation to organize the recycling of waste batteries in the following recycling facilities:

Our plant in Oskarshamn – Sweden, Company SNAM in Viviez – France, Company Inmetco in Pittsburg – United States:

  • Ni-Cd and Ni-MH technologies.
  • These plants operate under an ex-ante administrative permit. Both European sites are ISO 14001 certified.
  • The industrial processes of these sites allow for the separation and the reuse, in whole or in part, of the electrolyte, of the plastic casing, of the connecting components, of the cadmium (exclusively reused in the manufacture of new accumulators), of the nickel and the steel contained in the electrodes.
  • Separators and other components (such binding agents) which are an integral part of some electrodes are destroyed during the process.

Company Umicore – Sweden:

  • Li-ion technology.
  • This recycling plant operates under an ex-ante administrative permit.
  • The processes of this site allows for the separation and reuse of the following metals: cobalt, nickel, iron, and copper. The last two substances are reused to manufacture active materials for new accumulators.

Company Eurodieuze Industrie - France :

  • Li primary technology (Li-SO2, Li-SOCl2).
  • This recycling plant operates under an ex-ante administrative permit.
  • The processes of this site allow the safe treatment of these batteries and the separation and reuse of the steel.
