Collection policy

In most Member States of the European Union, as well as in North America and in several countries of Africa and Asia where our Group has sales activities, Saft has identified collection partners for its industrial nickel based range. This network was launched and developed several years before the adoption of the batteries directive 2006/66/EC.

By bringing their end-of-life nickel-based batteries to this network, users of Saft batteries are ensured that these will be received, stored and shipped to recycling facilities in full compliance with local, national and international laws and regulations which regulate trans-boundary waste shipment and recycling.

Except for the recycling site located in our Oskarshamn - Sweden facility, these partners are neither owned nor operated by our Group and they do not operate under the direct or indirect supervision of Saft.

When users need to have their Saft industrial nickel-based batteries recycled, we strongly advise that they return these batteries to one of the collection points identified in the section “Collection Points” of this web site. From this point forward, the spent batteries will be transported and recycled at our cost.

If the end-user is located in a country which is not listed on this site, we advise that he makes contact with our Company so that we can build a custom tailored solution for the end of life of its industrial nickel-based batteries, in full legal and regulatory compliance.

The substances extracted from the waste on these recycling sites are reused in the manufacture of new batteries or incorporated into other manufacturing processes and will therefore find a new life in other finished products.

With regard to other technologies of batteries and accumulators that Saft manufactures, and as the legal transposition of the battery directive moves forward throughout the member States of the European Union, our Group will implement the schemes that will bring to our customers the right environmental solution.
