Cable networks

As cable companies compete with telecom operators in voice and data services, service reliability and quality are paramount. They need reliable, low-maintenance back-up power for equipment including Remote Subscriber Units (RSUs), Optical Node Units (ONUs) and Hybrid Fiber–Coaxial (HFC) networks.

In order to increase the reliability of their network while reducing the operating cost (OPEX) in the same time, Saft offer back-up energy solution with high reliability, temperature tolerant, long life and low maintenance:

  • Saft's NCX and Ultima.plus nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries provide highly reliable back-up power with very low maintenance requirements and high durability – leading to lower operating costs.
  • Tel.X Ni-Cd batteries offer a compact and maintenance free solution, ensure a maximum reliability and minimum total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • In some situations, equipment is installed in compact cabinets, where space for the battery is limited to a few 19-inch rack units (‘U’). Here, Saft’s Intensium 3 (3U height) or Intensium 1 (1U height) lithium-ion batteries provide reliable and lightweight back-up power without compromising lifetime.
  • Saft 48 V – 10 Ah 19“ rack mounted Ni-MH battery system for VRLA replacement in hot environment.
