Access networks

As telecom networks expand into new coverage areas, access network equipment is increasingly installed at remote sites, typically in outdoor cabinets, huts, shelters and controlled environment vaults (CEVs).

Remote locations are often in more hostile environments, with large variations in temperature and humidity – even in temperature-controlled enclosures.

While the number of remote access nodes is growing and equipment is expected to operate for extended periods without attention.

Power back-up solution

Saft offers a range of battery technologies to meet the demanding needs of access network nodes.

In the highly competitive market for new telecom services, like broadband, quality and reliability are everything: power back-up has become an absolute necessity. With its NCX, and Ultima.plus nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries, Saft provides the reliability that telecom operators need.

Saft's NCX and Ultima.plus Ni-Cd batteries are intrinsically reliable and their long operating life has been proven in the field, even in the harshest climates. They require very little maintenance and their service interval between topping up with water exceeds the total life of a VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) battery.

Tel.X Ni-Cd batteries offer a compact and maintenance free solution, ensure a maximum reliability and minimum total cost of ownership (TCO).

Saft’s Intensium 1-3 lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries provide maintenance-free energy storage in a small package, combining high operational reliability with outstanding life time, even under difficult environmental conditions.

All these batteries offer a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
