Uninterruptible Power Supply systems
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems provide high-quality, clean power to crucial loads such as:
- computer systems
- communications systems
- process control systems
- emergency lighting.
The battery is the heart of the UPS. When mains power is lost it has to deliver sufficient power for long enough to enable a controlled shut-down or for a standby power source to come on line.
Reliability is critical
Battery reliability is a critical factor in the success of a UPS system. Saft batteries provide you with the confidence that your UPS will work when it is needed. Furthermore, our batteries offer a long, consistent service-life. In addition, this helps to reduce maintenance and replacement costs, providing optimised TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
Large UPS systems
Saft has a range of robust and reliable battery types to suit a variety of energy and power ratings and discharge times in large UPS applications.
Our SBH or SPH high-rate H-type batteries are specially designed for discharges over short periods, making them ideal for constant power applications.
SPH batteries feature sintered / PBE plate technology that offers two additional advantages in UPS applications:
- optimum size and weight
- narrow voltage window
SBM medium-rate M-type batteries are ideal for sustaining loads from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Our Uptimax range meets ultra-low maintenance requirements.
Small UPS systems
For small UPS systems, the Saft VT range of nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries is capable of accepting a permanent charge in high-temperature environments.
Saft’s recently introduced VNT Ni-Cd range has innovative electrode technology that offers improved energy density over the VT range.
Saft has also developed the VHT Ni-MH range to deliver even higher energy density in UPS applications. It offers excellent charge efficiency at high temperatures and superior charge retention in storage.
